Actor and comedian Alan King serves as emcee at the kickoff of the Toyota Comedy Festival at Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan on June 3, 1993. King, a standup comic and monologist was known for his humorous sarcasm laced angry rants and his trademark beard and cigars. A New Yorker, he died on May 9, 2004 at the age of 76.
