This sculpture of Admiral David Farragut is seen in a park adjacent to the Farragut Town Hall in Knoxville (Farragut), Tennessee. Farragut was born in July, 1801 and died in 1870. At the time of his death he had been in US Naval uniform for 59 years. He joined the Navy at the age of 11 and was commander of his first vessel when only 12 years old. He is credited with saying damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
