The ancient village of Abhaneri is in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, India, and is known for its historical and cultural attractions. The town is home to a ruined tenth-century temple to Harshat Mata — Hindu Goddess of Joy and Happiness — and also has one of India’s largest and deepest remaining step wells. The Chand Baori is a step well built in the 9th century and features a series of narrow steps that descend 13 stories into the ground.
