This abandoned cabin is seen on the property of the Cisco Zoo in Cisco, Texas which has been closed since the mid-1930s. The zoo opened in the 1920s and boasted some exotic animals for the day, but it was closed in the mid-1930s due to the unsolved death of a bear and deer. The zoo trail winds around the old animal enclosures and up the hill past several of these cabins that appear to have been used by zoo visitors. The outside and inner walls are structurally sound, but all the windows are gone and the interiors are pretty trashed. These must have been state-of-the-art visitor sites in their day. The grounds are open and have several short hiking trails which are perfect for families with children or anyone wanting to get out to see the old zoo grounds or just wanting some exercise.
