The Mehmed the Conqueror Bridge (Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge), in honor of the Turkish Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror, who captured the city of Constantinople in 1453, also known as the Second Bosphorus Bridge - a road suspension bridge, is one of three bridges located over the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, Turkey. Was built in 1986-1988. The bridge is 1,510 m long and 39 m wide. The pylons are 105 m high and the distance between them is 1,090 m. The road is approximately 64 m away from the water surface. The bridge was the sixth longest after it was put into operation in 1988 (as to the span length) suspension bridge in the world.
