The male bird Rhyticeros unulatus has a body length of approximately 105 centimeters, while the female bird is smaller. The tail is white, and the back, wings, and abdomen of both males and females are black. However, the head of the male bird is milky white, with slightly red filamentous feathers on the occipital region. The naked throat sac has obvious black stripes. The female bird has a black head and neck, and a blue throat sac.
