Ornamental Pigeons or costume pigeons are breeds of pigeons that are bred mostly for their visual characteristics, and most are produced by crossbreeding. Ornamental pigeon breeding was also a common occupation in the Ottoman palace. The Ottoman palace, on the one hand, developed the native breeds of Anatolia, on the other hand, went to the way of breeding the pigeons collected from the neighboring countries. Up to 50 breeds of pigeons, which are also bred as ornamental pigeons in Turkey today, were developed in the Ottoman palace.
