Stock Photo: A Fulgora Genus Planthopper Dorsal View

ID 261142338 © Ricardnature | Megapixl.com

This is a Fulgora genus planthopper, Fulgoridae family. There are only nine species in the Fulgora genus. Found in Central and South America. Common names: peanut bug, peanut-headed lanternfly, alligator bug and machaca. This one is maybe a Fulgora laternaria species. It seems weird, an animal from another world, another planet. The shape of the head is funny, it is a peanut. Observed at Cerro Cahuí Protected Biotope, Petén, northern Guatemala.
