Mantis is a general term for carnivorous insects in the order Mantis, with the family Mantidae having the highest number of species. Praying mantis usually reproduce once a year and overwinter on shrub branches with their egg sheaths. Each egg sheath has 70 eggs, with many reaching over 100. The lifespan is approximately 6-8 months.
