什刹海，是北京市历史文化旅游风景区、北京市历史文化保护区。位于市中心城区西城区，毗邻北京城中轴线。什刹海包括前海、后海和西海（又称积水潭）三个水域及临近地区，与“前三海”相呼应，俗称“后三海”。清代起就成为游乐消夏之所，为燕京胜景之一。 Shichahai is a historical and cultural tourist scenic spot in Beijing and a historical and cultural reserve in Beijing. It is located in Xicheng District of downtown area, adjacent to the central axis of Beijing. Shichahai includes Qianhai, Houhai and Xihai also known as Jishuitan three waters and adjacent areas, which echo with `qiansanhai`, commonly known as `housanhai`. Since the Qing Dynasty, it has become a summer resort and one of the scenic spots in Yanjing.
