These carriages can be found at Penrose Heritage Museum at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO. Brewster and Company introduced their tremendously popular four seat `Surrey` carriage in 1872. Many other builders followed with similar designs. Cutaway doors to make climbing up and into rear seats didn`t appear on surreys until the mid 1880s. This particular example still features its original boar`s hide upholstery and bentwood backrests, but no `fringe on the top`.
