The Andromeda galaxy fills the frame and a little bit more in this image from Abiquiu Reservoir, NM. M31, the largest galaxy in our local group, at a distance of ~2.5 million light years, destined to collide with our own Milky Way galaxy in about 4 billion years or so give or take. One of the absolute farthest things to view with the naked eye, the core can be seen under moderately dark skies.
