11 miles west of Bend, Oregon, Tumalo Falls cascades 131 feet from a sheer basalt precipice into the Tumalo Creek Canyon. The overcast morning of July 4th, 2008, provides an even, diffused light for photographing the falls within the steep canyon walls. It is much different than the usual sharp contrast of dark shadows and bright sunlight of a typically sunny Central Oregon day. Besides being a natural wonder, Tumalo Creek is a major watershed for the city of Bend.
