Thammattam Players perform at the Esala Perahera in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The drum is tied around the performers waist to allow free movement of the hands and feet whilst dancing and drumming.The Esala Perahera is held to honour the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha (which is enshrined within the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) and is considered one of the most colourful processions in the world.
