This flower is part of the aster family named tickseed sunflower. They grow wild in the countryside and along roadsides in Oklahoma. Even with a name like tickseed they are a very beautiful yellow wildflower with small dark seeds in the center. They love the sunshine and hot, dry temperatures. Plants grow two to three feet tall with several flowers on each branch.
