The Statue of General Prim in Parc de la Ciutadella is one of the more traditional pieces there. A fortress or Ciutadella used to stand in the area of the park. King Philips V controlled the population from there. The hated fortress was demolished when General Prim handed it over to the city between 1869 and 1878.
