The unusual lava rock in the town of Aiguilhe, connected to the better known city of Le Puy-en-Velay, France was inhabited and praised since ancient time. The chapel dedicated to Saint Michael (Saint Michael of the Needle) was build in 972 and today is one of the most dramatic landmarks of France.
