Carvers Gap, a low point in the ridgeline of Roan Mountains, is an access point to stunning scenery on the Appalachian Trail. These wild catawba rhododendrons bloom along the trail from the Carvers Gap parking lot to the grassy balds and rocky outcrops of Roan Mountain along the border of western North Carolina and Tennessee.
