Pele real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the Brazilian football/soccer legend, arrives on the red carpet with wife Marcia Aoki for the world premiere of the film, Pele: Birth of a Legend. The occasion was the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival at the John Zuccotti Theater at Borough of Manhattan Community College`s Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City on April 23, 2016. Pele led Brazil to 3 FIFA World Cup victories, in 1958, 1962, and 1970. He closed out his long career with a stint in North America, playing with the legendary New York Cosmos. Pele died at 82 on December 29, 2022 at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paolo, Brazil, from colon cancer with complications from Covid-19.
