The casino building was built in 1897 by architect Lajos Pakey to house the Cluj Casino. During the period between the two world wars there was an ethnographic museum. A special period in the existence of the building began in 1925, when the School of Fine Arts opened its doors in the building of the former Casino. The architecture of the casino is of eclectic style, the trendy style towards the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, when a great part of Cluj`s architecture, which the city still has today, was realized.
