A winding stairway in the historic National Museum of Fine Arts located in the capital city of Valletta, Malta. As impressive building, it was originally one of the first structures built in the fortified city and served as home to the knights of the Order of St. John. It was considered a palace and became home in later years to wealthy, high-ranking officials. It now houses art dating from the late medieval period through contemporary times. Due to its obvious state of disrepair, the museum is currently undergoing an extensive renovation.
