Cozia Monastery is a medieval monastic complex, located in Călimăneşti by the river Olt. It was founded by Mr. Mircea the Old, expanded and renovated over the centuries of its history. Paul Aleppo diary of his journey to the Land Romanian between August 21, 1656 - October 13, 1658 wrote tails in their language meaning of the name of the monastery, Cozia fortress of land because of the countless mountains of this country. [1] Cozia Monastery, as a whole, is listed historical monuments in Romania, having LMI code classification code VL-09697-AA-II. Cozia Monastery was over time a strong outbreak of Romanian culture. The royal charters of March 28, 1415 March 18, 1419, June 16, 1436 and April 17, 1448 testifies that this work is a monastic school since 1415. The first teacher was the father Sophrony, abbot of the monastery. Filos steward, chancellor of the great voivode Mircea the Elder wrote poems and hymns, he is considered the first Romanian poet [citation needed]. Cozianul constituted Mardarie 1696 Slavo-Romanian lexicon, needed school. About operation of the school commemorates 12 May 1772 Archimandrite Gennady that came tails in early childhood, where I learned the book. Not far from the tails Jiblea (today neighborhood Călimăneşti) exist in the eighteenth century a village school, led by Barbu, a student of monastic school.
