The Iowa State Capitol Complex is littered with monuments and memorials. This one pays tribute to our brave soldiers who fought and died in World War II. The centerpiece of this memorial is the 50-foot tall “Freedom Flame†which stands in front of the “Wall of Memoriesâ€. To reach the wall, you must traverse the “Freedom Walk†which commemorates the five major theaters of operations. The Pearl Harbor Memorial fronts the plaza.
