The canines of the dog are long, single-rooted and powerful teeth, the upper canines fit into a depression in the lower lip, the lower canines between the upper slices and the upper canine. The canine roots can be up to twice as long as the crown. Their function is both mechanical - the upper canines help keep the upper lip outside the mouth and the lower keeps the tongue inside the mouth - but mainly they are adapted to grip prey or the enemy and tear tissue. The first premolar in the upper jaw is a small tooth, which by its presence probably further strengthens the fixation of the canines in the jaw. A blockbuster complex composed of the largest premolars and molars is used to cut pieces of meat and crush bones. The last M3 chair is small and doesn`t matter much.
