These are maybe the best known Moldavian pies and they are usually prepared with sweet or salty cheese but today it is not unusual to use fruits or comfiture instead. The translation of this name is pretty funny and it sounds like “skirt raised up to the belt†– this refers to their shape as each of these pies looks like a skirt tucked up and folded towards the belly band.
