Three landmark smokestacks stand as an historic reminder of bygone days of the logging industry for Bend, Oregon. The old red brick saw mill still stands, but has now been renovated into upscale retail stores as part of The Shops at the Old Mill. Along the Deschutes River, log jams have been replaced by abundant wildlife, thanks to the foresight of developers to create a protected riparian shoreline up and down both sides of the river.
