The unseen reality of the emotional stress and depth of compassion and empathy felt by a white Australian aid relief volunteer as she is overwhelmed with emotions, sorrow and deep feeling of helplessness in the face of the harsh and severe poverty, hunger, medical care needed of the people, children and families of a village, only one in hundreds, in remote Karamoja, Uganda on the border of Sudan and Kenya. Very few aid workers venture this far in and see the depth of despair and the lack of basic food, medical care, fresh water and education. Most images show a smiling missionary or volunteers, but in fact the unseen reality is that these brave souls who bring staples, clothing and basic medical supplies often suffer an emotional breakdown when faced with the suffering in these remote villages and what the people have to endure.
